Courage Over Comfort

Luke 9:23

January 28, 2026

Following Jesus was never meant to be comfortable. He calls us to take up our cross — daily.

There is a version of Christianity that has been stripped of its demands — comfortable, convenient, and spiritually empty.

But Jesus never promised comfort. He promised presence.

"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." (Luke 9:23)

The cross is not a decorative piece of jewelry. It is an instrument of sacrifice. Jesus told His followers to pick theirs up — daily.

**What Cross Are You Avoiding?** Every one of us has an area where God is calling us forward and we're choosing comfort instead. It might be a conversation you need to have. A habit you need to break. A risk you need to take. A community you need to serve.

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the decision to obey God in spite of fear. Choose courage. Every single day.
