Perseverance

Finish the Race

Hebrews 12:1–2

February 18, 2026

Life is a marathon, not a sprint. What does it look like to run with endurance, eyes fixed on Jesus?

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." — Hebrews 12:1–2

The Christian life is described as a race — and races are not won in a single day. They are won through consistent, faithful effort, one step at a time.

Three Keys to Finishing Well:

**1. Throw off what hinders.** Not everything in your life is sinful — some things are simply weights. Habits, relationships, attitudes, distractions that slow you down. Identify and lay them down.

**2. Run with perseverance.** There will be days when you don't feel like running. Run anyway. Feelings follow faithfulness, not the other way around.

**3. Fix your eyes on Jesus.** The crowd will cheer and jeer. The course will be hard. But your finish line is Jesus — keep Him in your sights.

You were made to finish. Keep running.
